Lajim's Resignation No Impact On Beaufort UMNO's Strength, Says Sabah UMNO Youth

KOTA KINABALU, (Bernama) -- Sabah Umno Youth on Tuesday said the resignation of former housing and local government deputy minister Datuk Lajim Ukin as Umno supreme council member, Beaufort Umno division chief and Beaufort Barisan Nasional chairman, was expected and would not have an impact on Umno and BN's strength, particularly in Beaufort.

Its chief Awang Kadin Tang said Umno and BN had faced much bigger challenges before than the issue of Lajim's resignation, especially when the resignation was driven by personal interest.

Following Lajim's resignation, he said, Sabah Umno Youth reiterated its full support for Umno and BN under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and at the state level, led by Chief Minister and Sabah Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

"We believe that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, not only will Sabah's economy become stronger and continue to grow, hence attracting even more local and foreign investors to invest in the state, but Umno and BN will also remain strong," he said in a statement.

Awang Kadin said: "Well, if one feels that one might not be chosen as a candidate (in the coming general election) as stated by Lajim himself recently, one will be carried away by one's self-interest and thinking that the party one has been part of, is not good anymore.
